Neko Con-R
Cosplay Review
First thing I want to do is give a special thanks to Chad for the
press passes he got us, without them I would not have gotten to see the
Cosplay. Upon entering the room where the Cosplay was, I along
with everybody else knew that it would be packed, which is why I
needed the press pass. I honestly have to say that I never thought
the Cosplay would be as fun as it was. The special guest introducing
the acts was Toshifumi Yoshida. He is one of the funniest people
I know. "Have another drink" was the crowds most common
request. Of course he followed our requests.
Now on to the acts. The first one of
was a lovely young lady dressed up as "Felicia" from DarkStalkers, and
she danced for us. :)
Then came the funniest skit I have ever seen in my life, Capcom the
musical. It was performed by "The Ranma Troop" (John Hawk,
Devin Bolk, Leslie Lefferts, Mishele Lefferts, Ryan Rittenhouse, Jason
Greene, Roxanne Myers, Sean Trout, Kurtis Bolk, James Hall,
Bowie Hall, Lisa Harrison, Christy Leijewski, and Parker Baine) whom
I know personally. They all dressed up like Capcom 'Street
Fighter' characters and were singing about how 'M. Bison' is all ways
the last boss in every fighting game and how 'Ryu' got beaten by
a
girl. This skit won Best Skit, and they clearly deserved it.
Despite the fact that the skit was great, it wasn't my absolute favorite.
Above
all else, my favorite was of a basketball player fighting a vampire.
Tad Griggs, and Chris Brock were rolling, falling, flying, and fighting
their way across the stage. Several times during the skit it
looked like they would get injured or fall off the stage. Though
when I
cornered Tad, I dicovered that he was a gymnastics instructor and that
Chris had taken martial arts for several years and was a master.
It
apperntly only took them about 15 minutes to coreagraph that whole
skit. It was Michael Brady's "Scare the Judge" award. Unfortunetly
there were too many skits to name so I will only name the ones that
made an impact on me. There was Dragonmaster Alex, who stood
up and told us his story about Althena and his world. There was
this adorable little girl who dressed up as Misty from Pokemon, who
kinda just did a spin to show her costume. She one a prize too.
There were about 64 or so skits, so I can't name them all.
I was really pleased by the skits and will be sure
to go to the Cosplays at every convention I go to. Oh, if you have
never seen the
Cosplay you should give it a chance. With atleast 200+ otaku
in one room how could you not have fun? Hope to see you at the next
Cosplay.
