Anime Stereotypes
There are many stereotypes associated with anime
and we at R.E.A.L. Anime have decided to catalog
some of them and try to rationalize the reasoning behind
them for all the newbies out there who "just don't get
those damn T&A shots."

T&A:

Stereotype:

Well there's the first and foremost stereotype.  All the
bonita chicas' have big thingies n' nice tushies.  This
however is not always true.  Prime examples are the
infamous Lina Inverse (Slayers) and in my opinion
Akane Tendo (Ranma ½).  Neither of them are stacked
up like Bloodberry (Saber Marionette) or, since I'm using
Ranma, Shampoo and Ranma girl-type.

Reasoning:

Oh come on now do I really need to get into this one???
Nothing sells better than a good plot and some crazy
characters... except for when the female ones have big
boobies.  Now I don't mean this to be an insult to those
readers out there with large, or even small, chests.  I
myself have a very healthy pair of "fat-man titties."  So
don't take it the wrong way, it's just a simple statement of
fact.

Big Lips:

Stereotype:

Ah another one of my favorite things to point out and
laugh histerically at.  Have you ever been watching
Macross or maybe even Ah! Megami-sama (OMG) and
just found yourself wondering "Why does the brotha (or
sista) always gotta have the big lips?"

Reasoning:

Yet another prime example of marketing genious based
on modern day stereotypes, and this one actually gets to
me sometimes.  When one thinks of the stereotypical
person with african roots they immediately think of a few
things, big hair and big lips.  Yet again just a personal
statement of fact.   Honestly I found myself debating this
point one day in the caffeteria of the fine community
learning center that we of R.E.A.L. Anime attend.  I and
my comrades would sit there and defend this reasoning
to those who have had very little, and I'm not saying I've
had much more, exposure to this one stereotype and that
is the best reasoning we came up with.  Simply put,
when key artists are asked to come up with a black
character they tend to think of big lips.  You can actually
thank Hollywood and other sources of material for that
little stereotype.

Hair:

Stereotype:

Now I don't know about anyone else out there but I
personally would love to have anime hair.  Be it the
spikes of Otaru or Goku, the totally cool braids on
Ranma boy-type, or even the simple, yet amazingly
sheak Tamahome hair.  Now don't get me wrong I don't
just check out the guys hair, actually it's usually the girls I
notice first, but since I'm just one peachy guy I tend to
picture myself with that cool anime hair.  Maybe it's cuz I
wear a hat too much and I'm slowly turning into a Krillin if I
don't do something soon... and yes if I go bald then every
morning when I wake up I'll put six dots on my head so I
look like a giant round die.  However we at R.E.A.L.
Anime never forget about the ladies, or at least I don't...
don't know about Dude or Jim, so when it comes to
anime hair for girls one series comes to mind before
anything else... yup you guessed it, Tenchi.  All the girls
in Tenchi always have such cool hair.  Of course who
could forget the wonderful locks of loveliness on
Belldandy, Urd, and yes even cute little Skuld.  However
if I had to be an animated female I'd much rather go with
Asuka from Eva or Jessie from Pokèmon but that's just
because we red-heads are always so desired and it
wouldn't take long to readjust to being the center of
attention based on looks alone.

Reasoning:

And now for the reasoning behind anime hair.   It's just
cool.  That's it folks.  The hair is so cool looking and
colorful that it is an immediate attention getter.  In a
crowd of about 200 people who would you notice first
just by looking at heads, Ryoko and Washu, or Shinji and
Tenchi?
Well folks that's all I'm gonna cover now because
those are the stereotypes people are usually exposed to
first.  Oh yeah school girls... can't forget the school girls.
That's just a common thing because everybody knows
that most every guy and even some girls hold a special
place in their hearts for a "hot sexy mama in a lil school
jumper."  If you can come up with any other nifty
stereotypes I may have overlooked like the constant
fighting, always hilarious one liners, or anyhitng you think
deserves some pointing out then feel free to drop me a
line.
