Michael Weiss:
"I came in, obviously, at a different role this year. It's a position I've never been in, going into a short program. It was different for me, but it was fun. I just wanted to relax and give a solid program and get into the rhythm of the competition. I had to fight for a couple of landings, but that is what made it fun."
"It's different going in as the favorite. I am used to being the underdog. I went out and skated the way I wanted to. I am sitting where I want to be right now."
"It's a fun program for meI like to do something different each year. I like the show the diffrence between my short and long program. When we first put it together, we wanted to have a program that, at the end, the audience felt like they had a good time watching it. I think I've accomplished that with this program.
Weiss on the selection of Van Halen music for his short program:
"Maybe the judges will get some Van Halen (music). I've always been a big fan of Van Halen. I think the judges are a lot more receptive to us skaters going out and skating to what we enjoyif it's Van Halen---great, if its Madame Butterfly, the same thing."
