The second day at the vacation
house was definitly worse than the first. In
fact, I've already learned one Hawaii tidbit:
when it rains, it pours. From the minute I got up from sleeping next to Zac (which of course we got lectured about) it was pouring. It poured all through breakfast and as we're nearing lunch, it's still pouring. Bored, I turned the radio on in my room. Melanie and Molly were elsewhere and I had the room to myself. Normally, when all three of us were together we'd listen to the new stuff, N Sync and the Backstreet Boys, but today as I sit alone in my room, I turned the dial to an oldies station. I sat on the floor, and leaned my head back against the wall. Smiling, I remembered that it was Taylor, who had introduced me to "oldies" || "Tay turn that back" "No, Madlor. I like this song" "But that was Janet Jackson" "Yeah. And this is the Temptations" I watched as my ten year old friend, mouthed the words to the song. When he noticed me watching him, he asked me to join in "Come on Maddy, I know you know this song" He was right, I did know the song and before long we were both signing our hearts out. Boy, if any Hanson fans saw him back then. When it's cold outside, I've got the month of May I guess, you'd say What could make me feel this way? My Girl. My Girl. My Girl. Talkin' bout my Girl. My Girl. ||||| Taylor passed my door, and went straight to his room. He didn't see me, which I found quite amusing. I love it when I can see people and they can't see me. I find it, for some unknown reason, hysterical. Within seconds, as I had mentally predicted Taylor came through the joing doors. "Hey. I didn't know you were in here" "I know. I saw you pass" "Oh. Hey, great station you got on here" As one song ended and another began, Taylor's eyes lit up. The song was "My Girl" and I knew what was coming. "Lets do it" he said giving me a wink. "Oh, Tay, I dunno. Singing with a big musician like you. I might ruin your reputation" "Shut up and sing with me" he grabed my arms and pulled me up from off the floor. I couldn't help it, I got into it. Signing with Taylor was such a big part of my past, and for the past two days all I've been doing was re-living my past. Soon enough, we had an audience outside my room. Mom, dad, Diana, Walker, Molly, Melanie, Zac and Isaac had gathered around our door, watching us sing. Of course we were off key, but we were having a blast. We were together, and it was a special moment. In the background, I saw Melanie tap Isaac on the shoulder, then leave with him. You know what? If Isaac decides not the be my friend anymore, who cares? I've got Taylor, my singing buddy. I re-focused all my attention to the song and when we were through, we had gotten a thunderous applause. When it's cold outside I've got the month of May. I guess you'd say What can make me feel this way? My girl (my girl, my girl) Talkin' 'bout my girl (my girl). I've got so much honey the bees envy me. I've got a sweeter song than the birds in the trees. I guess you'd say What can make me feel this way? My girl (my girl, my girl) Talkin' 'bout my girl (my girl). Hey hey hey Hey hey hey Ooooh. I don't need no money, fortune, or fame. I've got all the riches baby one man can claim. I guess you'd say What can make me feel this way? My girl (my girl, my girl) Talkin' 'bout my girl (my girl). I've got sunshine on a cloudy day with my girl. I've even got the month of May with my girl home || next lyrics credit: "my girl" the temptations |
