Glossary for Yaoi Otaku

Yaoi Otaku's main chara, Ari is Jewish. By the way, so am I, but that's not the point. The point is that he uses a lot of Yiddish expressions (as do I). Because I know most people don't know them, I've provided a glossary for you. I could probably leave out the Yiddishisms, but they fit Ari so well...

They are not in alphabetical order, rather, in the order you read them in the story.

shiksa - a non-Jewish girl. Sometimes used pejoratively, but it depends on the usage.

tuchus - ass. Actually, it means "tush."

kinehara - Like most Yiddish, the direct translation doesn't really make sense, "the evil eye." It's more like "knock on wood,"

Goyim - not-Jewish. As in, "not one of us," when speaking to other Jews, or an epithet.

Guten you - It's pronounced that way, but is actually spelled "gotenu," It's use is, "Oh my God, what have you done?

fegeleh - translates as "little bird." Usage is exactly what it sounds like.

ferschtinken - Screwed up, translates as "stinky," a way to describe a no account.

shana maideleh - A pretty girl. Something your grandma would say to you, "Oy, such a shana maideleh."

That's it for now. If I forgot any words please e-mail me. I'll add more words as the story goes on.
