Warped Tour '98
On July 31, 1998, I, Brandi had the best day of my life. I went to the Vans Warped Tour '98 with my friends Sarah, Justin, and Anna. There was so much free stuff, my back started hurting from carrying it all. The first band that we really watched was the Aquabats. They were so funny wearing their costumes. They had a chicken come out and throw things into the crowd. Then there was this Z man who came out and had a dance off with Prince Adam. Of course Prince Adam won. The Z man fell off of the stage. Then Save Ferris came on ( i think) and they were really cool. She was wearing some sort of tube top dress. She told the guys to start betting now if her dress would fall down or not. Fortunatley it didn't. After that, I wanted to buy a t-shirt so we started walking to the booths. At the Aquabats booth there were the Aquabats signing things!! I ran and got a Warped tour work t-shirt and got 3 of the 5 to sign it. 2 of them walked away. We then saw one of the trumpet players to the Pietasters and got his autograph. We then saw Royal Crown which was totally cool. There were professional swing dancers there and they were so awesome! I wish that I could have done some of the moves that they did. Then we decided to sit down on the grass by the tour buses. We never even imagined that so many of the band members would walk by. There was like 15 minutes before the Cherry Poppin Daddies were to come on and all of a sudden we saw Steve Perry walk by and we got to shake his hand and everything!! My friend Sarah is like the BIGGEST CPD fan and she started shaking from excitement. Then after that we went and watched the CPD concert and they were awesome. Me and Sarah were sitting there dancing to them, it was so cool. It was kind of hard to see them (i mean with me being like 5'0"-1")but they sure did sound awesome. We then walked back to where we were sitting so we could get different bands signature. We met someone from the Voo Doo Glow Skulls and we got pictures with him. We also met 5 of the 8 members of the CPD. When Steve Perry walked by we stopped him and got his signature a pictures with him. That was the best experience getting to meet him. We then met the really tall guy from NOFX. Our friend Justin is in love with the lead singer, Monique, from Save Ferris. When we saw her he ran towards her. Justin was in heaven. He got a picture with her and everything. Then we met the Specials, one of the best Ska bands around. We got 2 of the guys' signatures. It was really cool. Overall, that was the BEST experience of my life. I am definetley going again next year. This was better than any concert that I have ever gone to.
