Last Night We Had
Company For Dinner
I didn't talk with my mouth full
and I sat up straight.
I kept my elbows off the table
and my fingers off my plate.
I kept my salad fork on the left
and my butter knife on the right.
And I always said "Excuse me"
to show that I'm polite.
I didn't reach across the table
or knock over any glasses.
I didn't throw my food
but I made some winning passes.
I put my napkin in my lap
to show I'm no beginner,
...but
there was so much to remember,
I forgot to eat my dinner!
