Twisted Christopher Marsh

"Televisions"

based on RUSH "Subdivisions"

June, 1993 revised August 3, 1993

Beaming to every segment of society

Go between border and border, both upper and lower borders

Flying at the speed of light

to every passive veiwer watching at home

The TV shows seem so multi-sided

Entertainment is provided, Nielsen is undecided

Ages, races, and sexes are divided

in every American home

Nowhere is equal opportunity

or a realistic view of life

Televisions

In the drinking bars, in foreign lands so far

Tune in or be left out

Televisions

In your living space, at your best friend's place

Tune in or be left out

Can you escape the commercial bias

that rewrites the reality of truth

That television often determines your choice

and big TV makes a slave of you

Just like sheep we are drawn to the butcher

Lying never ceases, we are hacked to pieces

and we are taken for a ride

by the manipulators of our life

Would someone sell his sorrow for several millions

Lose his privacy to all, so veiwers have a ball

Nothing is sacred any more

in our society of show and tell

Something out of Hollywood

from star-covered streets

and hot stage camera lights

Televisions

In the drinking bars, in foreign lands so far

Tune in or be left out

Televisions

In your living space, at your best friend's place

Tune in or be left out

Can you escape the commercial bias

that rewrites the reality of truth

That television often determines your choice

and big TV makes a slave of you
