Pater Noster Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed by Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in
Heaven. Give us this day our daily
bread, and forgive us our
trespasses as we forgive those who trespass
against us. And lead us not into
temptation but deliver us from
evil. Amen Ave Maria Hail Mary, full of

women And Blessed is the fruit of Thy
womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God Pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our
death. Amen Gloria Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the
beginning is now, and ever shall

Almighty, Creator of Heaven and
Earth And in Jesus Christ His only Son, Our Lord Who was conceived of the Holy
Spirit Born of the Virgin Mary Suffered under Pontius

buried. On the third day, he rose
again He ascended into Heaven and is seated at the right
hand of God, the Father
Almighty. He will come again to judge the
living and the dead. I believe in the Holy
Spirit, the Holy Catholic
Church, the Communion of Saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the
body, and life everlasting. Amen. Act of Faith O my God, I firmly believe all the
truths that the Holy Catholic Church believes and
teaches; I believe these truths, O Lord,
because Thou, the infallible Truth, hast revealed them to her; in this
faith I am resolved to live and die. Amen. Act of Hope O my God, relying on Thy promises,
I hope that, through the infinite merits of Jesus Christ,
Thou wilt grant me pardon of my
sins, and the graces necessary to serve Thee in this
life and to obtain eternal happiness in
the next. Amen Act of Love O my God, I love Thee with my whole
heart and above all things, because Thou art infinitely good
and perfect; and I love my neighbour as myself
for love of Thee. Grant that I may love Thee more and more
in this life, and in the next for all eternity.
Amen Act of Contrition O my God, I am sorry and beg pardon
for all my sins, and detest them above all things, because
they deserve They dreadful punishments, because
they have crucified my loving Saviour Jesus Christ and, most
of all, because they offend Thine infinite
goodness; and I firmly resolve, by the help of Thy grace,
never to offend Thee again, and carefully to avoid
the occasions of sin. Amen Morning consecration to
Mary My Queen, My Mother, I offer myself
entirely to Thee. And to show my devotion to Thee, I offer
Thee this day, my eyes, my ears, my mouth, my
heart, my whole being without reserve. Wherefore, good Mother, as I am
thine own, keep me, guard me as Thy property and possession.
Amen Salve Regina Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of
mercy! Hail, our life, our sweetness and
our hope! To Thee do we cry, poor banished
children of Eve. To Thee do we send up our
sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley
of tears. Turn then, most gracious

Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to your
protection, implored your
intercession, was left unaided.
Inspired then with confidence, I fly unto you, O Virgin of
virgins, my Mother! To you do I come, before you I
stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother
of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in your
mercy, hear and answer me. Amen Guardian Angel
prayer Angel of God, my guardian
dear To whom God's love commits me
here Ever this day (night) be at my
side To light and guard, to rule and
guide. Amen Prayer to child's Guardian
Angel O Angels of God, from heaven so
bright, watching beside my children to lead
them aright; Fold your wings round them, and
guard them with love; Softly sing songs to them of heaven
above. Amen Grace before
meals Bless us, O Lord, and these Thy
gifts which we are about to receive from
Thy bounty through Christ our Lord. Amen Grace after meals We give Thee thanks, O Almighty
God, for these Thy benefits Who lives and reigns, world without
end. Amen. May the souls of the faithful
departed, through the mercy of
God, rest in peace. Amen. Prayer for the
Pope Let us pray for our Most Holy
Father, Pope John Paul II. May the Lord preserve him and
give him life, and make him blessed upon the earth, and
deliver him not up to the will of his enemies. Amen Prayer before a
crucifix Behold, O kind and most sweet
Jesus, I cast myself upon my knees in Your sight, and with
the most fervent desire of my soul I pray and beseech
You that You would impress upon my
heart lively sentiments of Faith, Hope and Charity, true
repentance for my sins and a firm purpose of
amendment, while with deep affection
and grief of soul I ponder within myself and mentally
contemplate Your five most precious wounds,
having before my eyes that which David
spoke in prophecy of You, O good Jesus: they have pierced my
hands and feet, they have numbered all
my bones. Act of self
dedication Take O Lord, and receive my entire
liberty, my memory, my understanding and my whole will. All
that I am and all that I possess You have given me: I
surrender it all to You to be disposed of according to Your
will. Give me only Your love and Your grace; with these I
will be rich enough, and will desire nothing more.
Amen A Prayer to the Holy Guardian
Angels (Feast, October 2) Dear Angel at my side, my good and
loyal friend, you have been with me since the moment I was
born. You are my own personal guardian, given me by God as
my guide and protector, and you will stay with me till I
die. He who created you and me gave me to you as your
particular charge. You assisted in great joy at my baptism,
when I became part of the Mystical Body of Christ, and was
made a member of the household of God and an heir of heaven.
You saw the dangers that beset my path, and, if I sinned, it
was in spite of you. You envied me when Christ came to me in
Holy Communion. Even though you probably were there among
the angels that adored Him the night that He was born, you
have not been able to receive Him as I can. O, help me to
appreciate these gifts! Help me to realize, as you do, with
every fiber of my being, that to serve Christ is to be a
King! Help me steadfastly to avoid evil and do good and
always guard my soul from sin. Protect me as well from
physical evils as I go about my daily work. You will be with
me all my life, and at the hour of my death. Help me to face
death bravely, patiently, with great love of God, knowing
that it is only through death that I can come to Him in
heaven! Then, come with me to my Judge, and when the hour of
my salvation comes, take me home to my Father,
God. Amen. Holy Michael, the Archangel,
Defend Us in Battle Holy Michael, the Archangel, defend
us in battle. Be our safeguard against the wickedness and
snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; and
do you, O Prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God
cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who wander
through the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen. To St. Michael, For Protection
of the Church and Her Members O glorious St. Michael, guardian
and defender of the Church of Jesus Christ, come to the
assistance of this Church, against which the powers of hell
are unchained, guard with especial care her august Head, and
obtain that for him and for us the hour of triumph may
speedily arrive. O glorious Archangel St. Michael, watch
over us during life, defend us against the assaults of the
demon, assist us especially at the hour of death; obtain for
us a favorable judgment, and the happiness of beholding God
face to face for endless ages. Amen. Thanks to My Guardian
Angel O Angel of God, my blessed
protector, to whose care I have been committed by my Creator
from the moment of my birth, unite with me in thanking the
Almighty for having given me a friend, and instructor, an
advocate, and a guardian in thee. Accept, O most charitable
guide, my fervent thanksgiving for all thou hast done for
me; particularly for the charity with which thou didst
undertake to accompany me through life; for the joy with
which thou were filled when I was purified in the waters of
Baptism; and for thy anxious solicitude in watching over the
treasure of my innocence. Thou knowest the numberless graces
and favors which my Creator has bestowed on me through thee,
and the many dangers, both spiritual and temporal from which
thou hast preserved me. Thou knowest how often thou didst
deplore my sins, animate me to repentance, and intercede
with God for my pardon. Ah! why have I so little merited a
continuance of thy zealous efforts for my salvation? Why
have I so often stained my soul by sin, and thereby rendered
myself unworthy of the presence and protection of an angel,
of so pure a spirit as thou art, who never sinned? But as my
ingratitude and thoughtlessness have not lessened thy
charitable interest for my salvation, so neither shall they
diminish my confidence in thy goodness, nor prevent me from
abandoning myself to thy care, since God Himself has
entrusted thee with the charge of my soul. Penetrated with
sorrow for the little progress I have made in virtue, though
blessed with such a Master, and sincerely determined to
correspond in future with thy exertions for my salvation, I
most earnestly entreat thee, O protecting spirit, to
continue thy zealous efforts for my eternal interest; to
fortify my weakness, to shield me from innumerable dangers
of the world and to obtain by thy powerful prayers that my
life may rather be shortened, than that I should live to
commit a mortal sin. Remember, O most happy spirit, that it
was one act of profound humility, and one transport of
ardent love for thy Creator, that caused God to establish
thee forever in glory; obtain that those virtues may be
implanted in my soul, and that I may seriously endeavor to
acquire docility, obedience, gentleness and purity of heart.
Conduct me safely through this world of sin and misery;
watch over me at the awful hour of my death; perform for my
soul the last charitable office of thy mission, by
strengthening, encouraging, and supporting me in the agonies
of dissolution, and then, as the angel Raphael conducted
Tobias safely to his father, do thou, my good angel and
blessed guide, return with me to Him who sent thee, that we
may mutually bless Him, and publish His wonderful works for
a happy eternity. Amen. Prayer to Defeat the Work of
Satan O Divine Eternal Father, in union
with your Divine Son and the Holy Spirit, and through the
Immaculate Heart of Mary, I beg You to destroy the Power of
your greatest enemy -- the evil spirits. Cast them into the deepest recesses
of hell and chain them there forever! Take possession of
your Kingdom which You have created and which is rightfully
yours. Heavenly Father, give us the reign
of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of
Mary. I repeat this prayer out of pure
love for You with every beat of my heart and with every
breath I take. Amen. When Using Holy
Water By this holy water and by Your
Precious Blood, wash away all my sins, O Lord. St. Theresa of Avila on holy water:
"From long experience I have learned that there is nothing
like holy water to put devils to flight and prevent them
from coming back again. They also flee from the cross, but
return; so holy water must have great value." Holy water is a means of spiritual
wealth -- a sacramental that remits venial sin. The Church
strongly urges its use, especially when dangers threaten.
The devil hates holy water because of its power over him. He
cannot long abide in a place or near a person that is often
sprinkled with this blessed water. For the Most Forgotten
Soul O Lord God Almighty, I beseech Thee
by the Precious Body and Blood of Thy divine Son Jesus,
which He Himself on the night before His Passion gave as
meat and drink to His beloved Apostles and bequeathed to His
Holy Church to be the perpetual Sacrifice and life-giving
nourishment of His faithful people, deliver the souls in
purgatory, but most of all, that soul which was most devoted
to this Mystery of infinite love, in order that it may
praise Thee therefor, together with Thy Divine Son and the
Holy Spirit in Thy glory for ever. Amen. For Those Who
Suffer For those who suffer, and those who cry this
night, give them repose, Lord; a pause in their
burdens. Let there be minutes where they experience
peace, not of man but of angels. Love them, Lord, when others cannot. Hold them, Lord, when we fail with human
arms. Hear their prayers and give them the ability to hear
You back in whatever language they best
understand. To Protect Life Loving God, I thank you for the
gift of life you gave and continue to give to me and to all
of us. Merciful God, I ask your pardon and
forgiveness for my own failure and the failure of all people
to respect and foster all forms of life in our universe.
Gracious God, I pray that with your
grace, I and all people will reverence, protect, and promote
all life and that we will be especially sensitive to the
life of the unborn, the abused, neglected, disabled, and the
elderly. I pray, too, that all who make decisions about life
in any form will do so with wisdom, love, and courage.
Living God, I praise and glorify
you as Father, Source of all life, as Son, Savior of our
lives, and as Spirit, Sanctifier of our lives. Amen. Sister Mary Margaret

Cardinal Bevilacqua Archbishop of Philadelphia, June
1994 Prayer to be Said Every Day to
Obtain the Graces Necessary for Salvation, by St.
Alphonsus Eternal Father, Thy Son has
promised that Thou wilt grant us all the graces which we ask
Thee for in His name. In the name, therefore, and by the
merits of Jesus Christ, I ask the following graces for
myself and for all mankind: And first, I pray Thee to give me a
lively faith in all that the holy Roman Church teaches me.
Enlighten me also, that I may know the vanity of the goods
of this world, and the immensity of the Infinite Good that
Thou art; make me also see the deformity of the sins I have
committed, that I may humble myself and detest them as I
ought; and, on the other hand, show me how worthy Thou art,
by reason of Thy goodness, that I should love Thee with all
my heart. Make me know also the love Thou has borne me, that
from this day forward I may try to be grateful for so much
goodness. Secondly, give me a firm confidence
in Thy mercy of receiving the pardon of my sins, holy
perseverance, and, finally, the glory of paradise, through
the merits of Jesus Christ and the intercession of
Mary. Thirdly, give me a great love
toward Thee, which shall detach me from the love of this
world and of myself, so that I may love none other but Thee,
and that I may neither do nor desire anything else but what
is for Thy glory. Fourthly, I beg of Thee a perfect
resignation to Thy will, in accepting with tranquility
sorrows, infirmities, contempt, persecutions, aridity of
spirit, loss of property, of esteem, of relations, and every
other cross which shall come to me from Thy hands. I offer
myself entirely to Thee, that thou mayest do with me, and
all that belongs to me, what thou pleasest; do Thou only
give me light and strength to do Thy will, and, especially
at the hour of death, help me to sacrifice my life to Thee
with all the affection I am capable of, in union with the
sacrifice which Thy Son Jesus Christ made of His life on the
cross of Calvary. Fifthly, I beg of Thee a great
sorrow for my sins, which may make me grieve over them as
long as I live, and weep for the insults I have offered
Thee, the Sovereign Good, who art worthy of infinite love,
and who hast loved me so much. Sixthly, I pray Thee to give me the
spirit of true humility and meekness, that I may accept with
peace, and even with joy, all the contempt, ingratitude and
ill-treatment that I may receive. At the same time I also
pray Thee to give me perfect charity, which shall make me
wish well to those who have done evil to me, and to do what
good I can, at least by praying, for those who have in any
way injured me. Seventhly, I beg of Thee to give me
a love for the virtue of holy mortification, by which I may
chastise my rebellious senses, and cross my self-love; at
the same time I beg Thee to give me holy purity of body, and
the grace to resist all bad temptations, by ever having
recourse to Thee and Thy most Holy Mother. Give me the grace faithfully to
obey my spiritual father and all my superiors in all things.
Give me an upright intention, that in all I desire and do I
may seek only Thy glory, and to please Thee alone. Give me a
great confidence in the Passion of Jesus Christ, and in the
intercession of Mary Immaculate. Give me a great love toward
the most Adorable Sacrament of the Altar, and a tender
devotion and love to Thy Holy Mother. Give me, I pray Thee,
above all, holy perseverance, and the grace always to pray
for it, especially in time of temptation and at the hour of
death. Lastly, I recommend to Thee the
holy souls in Purgatory, my relations and benefactors; and
in an especial manner I recommend to Thee all those who hate
me, or who have in any way offended me; I beg of Thee to
render them good for the evil they have done, or may wish to
do me. I also recommend to Thee all infidels, heretics, and
all poor sinners; give them light and strength to deliver
themselves from sin. O, most loving God, make Thyself known
and loved by all, but especially by those who have been more
ungrateful to Thee than others, so that by Thy goodness I
may come one day to sing Thy mercies in paradise; for my
hope is in the merits of Thy Blood, and in the patronage of
Mary. O Mary, Mother of God, pray to Jesus for me! So I
hope; so may it be!
