My Rocky History:
I first saw Rocky when I was 16 years old on video at a small party. I started renting it and tried to find a theater that still played it for years. I finally found one in Newark, Delaware. I went six times in a row to The Chestnut Hill Cinema Cafe, Newark, Delaware in October and November of 1995. On that sixth night that I attended the show the cast was short a Janet. I was asked to fill in for the role, this was my first performance on November 18, 1995. It was a complete disaster, but they asked me back for the following week to play Magenta. The part that I originally wanted to play in the first place. I stayed in Magenta for only 3 shows, when we found out that the girl who originally played Magenta, but was currently playing Janet was pregnant. She wanted her part back in order to be less naked! I started playing Janet, January 1996. I practiced insanely. I played Janet every single week for 78 weeks straight, only missing one week because I was in London (seeing Rocky Horror) for a year and a half. Then the theater shut down. About a year later our cast manager, found a theater in Exton, Pennsylvania. We became the cast known as "Sincere Lust". I was their regular Janet for about a year. I left the cast for a while and started playing in other States, and in conventions throughout the Country. I've played conventions in Las Vegas, Arizona, and Pennsylvania. I've also done many mini-conventions and Paloozas in many States. The "Rocky Horror Special" that is played every October for Halloween on VH1 was filmed at the 25th Anniversary Convention in Las Vegas. I managed to show up in bits and pieces of the show :) In 1998 I got my own theater and cast. We became known as "The Transexual Misfits". I was cast manager and performer for 2 years. In that time, I got to expand my characters and play a different character almost every week. Needless to say I acquired 2 of every costume, and many props that I made. It takes up a lot of closet space. I could put on a pretty rough show in my backyard if I wanted too. While being with "The Transexual Misfits" I also joined the Philadelphia Cast, known as "The Transylvanian Nipple Productions". I've gotten to do quite a few shows with them in different venues throughout Philly. I've also gotten invited to perform and sometimes organize private showings for parties and "one off" shows for theaters and halls that wanted to run Rocky for special events. I think the best performance that I got to be apart of is The Millenium 2000 Celebration that took place in Philadelphia to ring in the new year. Philadelphia planned an event every hour to celebrate each time zone. We performed Rocky Horror at 4:00 am, to a packed house. I got to play "Rocky" that night. Sal Piro was the master of ceremonies, and even the Mayor of Philadelphia, Ed Rendell payed us a visit. In 2000, I joined "The Castle Transylvanians" of Towson, Maryland. We only had a short run of about 3 months before the theater shut down. In 2001 I re-joined the cast "Sincere Lust", but in March of 2002 the cast was retired. In March 2002 a group of us formed "Formal Dress Optional" on Main Street in Newark, Delaware. I left the cast about a year later. I took that time to be very active in Conventions and guest performing with Rocky Casts in other States. Which is so much fun mainly because you get to spend time with friends you don't see very often. I went back to "Formal Dress Optional" in 2005, and that's where I am to this day.
