Since each chromosome was duplicated in S of interphase, ,there are 2 sister chromatids bound at the centromere, in the cell. The DNA begins to condense.
Late Prophase
During this period, DNA condensation has been completed, and the sister chromatids are rod-shaped and have a prominant restricted area on the centromere called the kinetochore. The kinetochore becomes a "docking" site for spindle microtubules in anaphase. New microtubules are assembled and transfer one of the centrioles- which was duplicated in early prophase- to the other end of cell as the nuclear envelope begins to tear. Don't worry, be happy! The nuclear envelope will be ok!
