White Tail Deer Wildlife is abundant along the Blue Ridge Parkway so drive carefully. The white tail deer are plentiful and are fairly tame. This one came up to the car window. Other critters which you may see include groundhogs, chipmunks, bobcats, foxes, opossums, raccoons, squirrels, and the shy black bears. More than 100 bird species can be seen during the spring migration season. One other critter, which should be avoided, is the eastern diamondback rattlesnake.
