A flock of egrets follows a band of wild Chincoteague ponies as they graze their way through the marsh on Virginia's Assateague Island.

The ponies enjoy their freedom all year long until July. That's when they're rounded up by the "saltwater cowboys" of Chincoteague, Virginia, for The Annual Pony Penning and Auction. About mid July the ponies are herded into fenced pastures until the last Wednesday in July when they make their famous swim from Assateague Island to Chincoteague Island.
