Greek from the Unbound Bible, Nestle-Aland 26/27
English from the New American Standard Bible, revised

A 16 ou gar dhpou aggelwn epilambanetai
For assuredly He does not give help to angels,

alla spermatoV abraam epilambanetai
but He gives help to the descendant of Abraham.

B 17 oqen wfeilen kata panta toiV adelfoiV omoiwqhnai
Therefore, He had to be made like His brethren in all things,

ina elehmwn genhtai kai pistoV arciereuV ta proV ton qeon
so that He might become a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God,

eiV to ilaskesqai taV amartiaV tou laou
to make propitiation for the sins of the people.

18 en w gar peponqen autoV peirasqeiV
For since He Himself was tempted in that which He has suffered,

dunatai toiV peirazomenoiV bohqhsai
He is able to come to the aid of those who are tempted.

C 1 oqen adelfoi agioi klhsewV epouraniou metocoi
Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of a heavenly calling,
D katanohsate ton apostolon kai arcierea thV omologiaV hmwn ihsoun
consider Jesus, the Apostle and High Priest of our confession;

2 piston onta tw poihsanti auton
He was faithful to Him who appointed Him,
E wV kai mwushV en [olw] tw oikw autou
as Moses also was in all His house.
F 3 pleionoV gar outoV doxhV para mwushn hxiwtai
For He has been counted worthy of more glory than Moses,

kaq oson pleiona timhn ecei tou oikou o kataskeuasaV auton
by just so much as the builder of the house has more honor than the house.

G 4 paV gar oikoV kataskeuazetai upo tinoV
For every house is built by someone,
F* o de panta kataskeuasaV qeoV
but the builder of all things is God.
E* 5 kai mwushV men pistoV en olw tw oikw autou wV qerapwn
Now Moses was faithful in all His house as a servant,

eiV marturion twn lalhqhsomenwn
for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken later;

D* 6 cristoV de wV uioV epi ton oikon autou
but Christ was faithful as a Son over His house —

ou oikoV esmen hmeiV   whose house we are,

ean[per] thn parrhsian kai to kauchma thV elpidoV katascwmen
if we hold fast our confidence and the boast of our hope [firm until the end].

C* 7 dio kaqwV legei to pneuma to agion shmeron ean thV fwnhV autou akoushte
Therefore, just as the Holy Spirit says, "Today if you hear His voice,

8 mh sklhrunhte taV kardiaV umwn  Do not harden your hearts

wV en tw parapikrasmw kata thn hmeran tou peirasmou en th erhmw
as when they provoked Me, as in the day of trial in the wilderness,

9 ou epeirasan oi patereV umwn en dokimasia
where your fathers tried Me by testing Me,

kai eidon ta erga mou tesserakonta eth
and saw My works for forty years.

10  dio proswcqisa th genea tauth kai eipon
"Therefore I was angry with this generation, and said,

aei planwntai th kardia autoi de ouk egnwsan taV odouV mou
`They always go astray in their heart; and they did not know My ways';

11 wV wmosa en th orgh mou ei eiseleusontai eiV thn katapausin mou
As I swore in My wrath, `They shall not enter My rest.'"

B* 12 blepete adelfoi mhpote estai en tini umwn
Take care, brethren, that there not be in any one of you

kardia ponhra apistiaV en tw aposthnai apo qeou zwntoV
an evil, unbelieving heart that falls away from the living God.

13 alla parakaleite eautouV kaq ekasthn hmeran acriV ou to shmeron kaleitai
But encourage one another day after day, as long as it is still called "Today,"

ina mh sklhrunqh tiV ex umwn apath thV amartiaV
so that none of you will be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.

A* 14 metocoi gar tou cristou gegonamen
For we have become partakers of Christ,

eanper thn archn thV upostasewV mecri telouV bebaian katascwmen
if we hold fast the beginning of our assurance firm until the end,
