3 pwV hmeiV ekfeuxomeqa thlikauthV amelhsanteV swthriaV
how will we escape if we neglect so great a salvation?

htiV archn labousa laleisqai dia tou kuriou
After it was at the first spoken through the Lord,

upo twn akousantwn eiV hmaV ebebaiwqh
it was confirmed to us by those who heard,

4 sunepimarturountoV tou qeou shmeioiV te kai terasin
God also testifying with them, both by signs and wonders

kai poikilaiV dunamesin kai pneumatoV agiou merismoiV
and by various miracles and by gifts of the Holy Spirit

kata thn autou qelhsin according to His own will.

5 ou gar aggeloiV upetaxen thn oikoumenhn thn mellousan
For He did not subject to angels the world to come,

peri hV laloumen concerning which we are speaking.

6 diemarturato de pou tiV legwn ti estin anqrwpoV
But one has testified somewhere, saying, "What is man,

oti mimnhskh autou that You remember him?

h uioV anqrwpou oti episkepth auton
Or the son of man, that You are concerned about him?

7 hlattwsaV auton bracu ti par aggelouV
"You have made him for a little while lower than the angels;

doxh kai timh estefanwsaV auton
You have crowned him with glory and honor,

[and have appointed him over the works of Your hands;]

8 panta upetaxaV upokatw twn podwn autou
You have put all things in subjection under his feet."

en tw gar upotaxai [autw] ta panta
For in subjecting all things to him,

ouden afhken autw anupotakton
He left nothing that is not subject to him.

nun de oupw orwmen autw ta panta upotetagmena
But now we do not yet see all things subjected to him.

9 ton de bracu ti par aggelouV hlattwmenon blepomen
But we do see Him who was made for a little while lower than the angels,

ihsoun dia to paqhma tou qanatou doxh kai timh estefanwmenon
namely, Jesus, because of the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor,

opwV cariti qeou uper pantoV geushtai qanatou
so that by the grace of God He might taste death for everyone.

10 eprepen gar autw For it was fitting for Him,

di on ta panta kai di ou ta panta
for whom are all things, and through whom are all things,

pollouV uiouV eiV doxan agagonta
in bringing many sons to glory,

ton archgon thV swthriaV autwn dia paqhmatwn teleiwsai
to perfect the author of their salvation through sufferings.
