Hebrews  7:11-22. Chiastic structure copied from Chiastic Analysis of the Epistle to the Hebrews,  arranged by John Bligh (Athenaeum Press, Heythrop College, Oxon, England: 1966). Bligh's work is almost entirely in Greek. For website purposes, I have used unaccented Greek from the Unbound Bible, Nestle-Aland 26, at unbound.biola.edu
I have added English from the New American Standard Bible, revised.

A 11 ei men oun teleiwsiV dia thV leuitikhV ierwsunhV hn
Now if perfection was through the Levitical priesthood
B o laoV gar ep authV nenomoqethtai
(for on the basis of it the people received the Law),
C tiV eti creia  what further need

kata thn taxin melcisedek eteron anistasqai ierea
was there for another priest to arise according to the order of Melchizedek,

kai ou kata thn taxin aarwn legesqai
and not be designated according to the order of Aaron?

12 metatiqemenhV gar thV ierwsunhV  For when the priesthood is changed,

ex anagkhV kai nomou metaqesiV ginetai
of necessity there takes place a change of law also.

D 13 ef on gar legetai tauta
For the one concerning whom these things are spoken

fulhV eteraV meteschken  belongs to another tribe,

af hV oudeiV proseschken tw qusiasthriw
from which no one has officiated at the altar.

E 14 prodhlon gar oti ex iouda anatetalken o kurioV hmwn
For it is evident that our Lord was descended from Judah,
D*  eiV hn fulhn peri ierewn ouden mwushV elalhsen
a tribe with reference to which Moses spoke nothing concerning priests.
C* 15 kai perissoteron eti katadhlon estin  And this is clearer still,

ei kata thn omoiothta melcisedek anistatai iereuV eteroV
if another priest arises according to the likeness of Melchizedek,

B* 16 oV ou kata nomon entolhV sarkinhV gegonen
who has become such not on the basis of a law of physical requirement,

alla kata dunamin zwhV akatalutou
but according to the power of an indestructible life.

17 martureitai gar oti         For it is attested of Him

su iereuV eiV ton aiwna kata thn taxin melcisedek
"You are a priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek."

18 aqethsiV men gar ginetai proagoushV entolhV
For, on the one hand, there is a setting aside of a former commandment

dia to authV asqeneV kai anwfeleV    because of its weakness and uselessness

A* 19 ouden gar eteleiwsen o nomoV  (for the Law made nothing perfect),
Note: the rest of verse 19 is in the next chiasm.
