The Fairport Blue team took a tough loss at Penfield when the Chiefs came
from behind to disappoint the Red Raiders 6-3.
Fairport jumped on top right away in the first inning. Greg Tellex walked
with one out, and stole second on the first pitch. Jamie Schild slapped a
base hit in the hole on the left side to put runners on first and second.
Jim Wetzel stepped in and looped another base hit down the line in right
field to load the bases. Tim Duffy then lined a base hit to right past the
drawn in infield to drive in Tellex and Schild and put the Red Raiders up
2-0.
Fairport scored again in the fourth. With one out Duffy singled to center.
Steve Economides lined a base hit to right to move Duffy into scoring
position. Tim Atkinson followed with a clutch single up the middle to drive
in Duffy and put the Red Raiders up 3-1.
Tellex pitched masterfully through the first five innings allowing just one
unearned run, and one hit while walking no one and striking out six before
Penfield rallied in the sixth.
Devon Greeno and Jason Meyers added hits for the Red Raiders.
