Art's Solo Album

Everclear Frontman Pondering Solo Album Skepticism, time constraints and jet lag may not scare Everclear frontman Art Alexakis away from recording an acoustic solo album next Fall.

During a recent concert in Indianapolis, the bleach blonde crooner reportedly told Music News that he has written most of the songs for his solo debut, and that he plans to record the album with Rami Jaffee of the Wallflowers in September. An acoustic venture strewn with loops and samples, the upcoming album was reportedly inspired by the handful of unplugged shows that Alexakis played to promote So Much For The Afterglow last spring.

It's the band's unrelenting, international tour schedule that makes Everclear management and Capitol Records doubt that Alexakis will realistically complete an entire album of new material so soon. On tour now in Australia, the band will jaunt over to Europe before returning to the United States and joining up with Marcy Playground in June.

"At this time (Alexakis) has no time to work on a project," said a representative from Everclear's management company.

Despite the adamant reports otherwise, Alexakis is apparently preparing to head into the studio for about 10 days before the end of the year and may emerge with a solo album after all. (Anni Layne)
