Song of the week 11/99
I still remember seeing the video for the first time, it was a typical video of the time, the band in a studio and some very cheap effects over the top, sort of a mixture of Primal Screamīs "Higher than the sun" and the Boo Radleys` "The finest kiss". Iīve heard the song at least a thousand times until now, but the one bit before the banjo (?) kicks in still gives me goose bumps ;)
Song of this week is "Flying" by the Telescopes, probably the song you should play if someone asks you what Shoegazing sounded like. Itīs got the whole lot, the spacey noises, the sigh-like singing, the lyrics about the sky and feeling so high, and a middle eight that will make your heart melt.
