Volunteer Opportunities

The Institute for Tsunamic Justice is seeing volunteers. Any time and energy you can contribute will be appreciated.

  1. WEB &/OR LIBRARY RESEARCHERS to locate grant sources which fund social justice and human rights organizations We are seeking both large and small, operating and project support grants. We need information regarding foundation information, deadlines and application process.
  2. GRANT WRITERS to prepare grant applications and document grant progress. We're hoping for someone familiar with the process, but if you want to learn, that's OK too.
  3. FUNDRAISERS for non-foundation fundraising such as educational/entertainment events, mailings, electronic appeals, etc. Creative ideas are appreciated.
  4. WEB RESEARCHERS to find electronic resources such as usenet groups, message boards, web pages and elists appropriate for the distribution of action alerts and/or funding appeals. We need people to find places to post alerts and appeals, distribute information, and contribute to our list of groups/lists/URLS for future use.
  5. INFORMATION DISTRIBUTORS. We need people to take action alerts and fliers to various locations in the Metro DC area (and other cities) such as alternative bookstores, campuses, events, coops, bulletin boards, etc. These people will contribute to a list of locations for future use.
  6. NEWS ARTICLE WRITERS who can link our current projects to their systemic causes in a compelling manner. Articles are to be offered to various alternative media and distributed electronically.
  7. EVENT PLANNERS to help organize public education and mobilization events. Of course we plan to do the usual stuff like film festivals and forums. But we are also looking to more creative projects.
  8. LEGAL RESEARCHERS to research specific statute or case law. Any law students need an independent study paper topic?

When the shoreline is littered with injustice as far as the eye can see, the people must rise up as a powerful wave, a tsunami, to sweep it all away and establish justice.
