The Girl I Left Behind Me Part Two

The Girl I Left Behind Me

Part Two

The wedding was held in gorgeous little country church. Davy felt (and looked) as though he'd burst from happiness, Peter looked like he'd burst into tears, and Micky, for some reason, looked as if he'd burst into laughter. Which was not unusual for Micky.

Davy stood at the altar and the music began to play. He turned to see his beautiful bride making her way slowly down the aisle. Eliza was dressed in a long, lacy, white gown that flowed down to the floor. From behind the lacy veil, the others could see she was beaming with as much joy and happiness as Davy was.

After what seemed to Davy like an eternity, Eliza reached the altar and stood next to him. They joined hands and turned to face the priest.

"Do you, David Jones, promise to love, honor, and protect this woman for as long as you both shall live?" he asked.

"I do," Davy replied.

"Do you, Eliza Stratton, promise to love, honor, and protect this man for as long as you both shall live?" he asked.

"I do," Eliza answered.

"Then, by the power vested in me by the state of California, I hereby pronounce you -."

But before the priest could finish, the front doors slammed open, stopping him in mid sentence. Three men rushed in, dressed in black and carrying machine guns.

Everyone in the church shrieked and dropped to the floor except for the wedding party. One of the men threw something down the aisle and the church began to fill with a green smoke, causing everyone to cough.

Davy felt himself begin to loose consciousness, and he collapsed to the floor. All around him, others were doing the same.

When Davy awoke, he had a horrible headache and felt incredibly nauseous. As he regained consciousness, he realized he was tied to a chair in a dark room. Around his mouth was a disgusting handkerchief.

"Mmm-mmm-mmm-mmm-mmm!" he protested, but to no avail. No one arrived to cut him loose, and he sat in the darkness.
