I have listed quite a few inquires to the Wilkins Boards on the net. I am looking for the Wilkins family in or near the MS area, specifically, West Point, Noxubee County, Meridian, Winston County area. My great aunt gave me information on what little she knew about the Wilkins Family before she passed away. To recap briefly.....supposedly Hugh Wilkins married an Eliza Morehead in Winston County, MS right after the Civil War. Hugh had brothers, Thomas, Joseph and a sister named Francis, (there may have been more, but this is all she knew). Hugh and Eliza had one child Wirt Winfield Wilkins, my great grandfather.. W W Wilkins married my great grandmother, Gladys Kilmer, (b Nov 1888 in Brooklyn, Iowa), on July 3, 1904. My grandfather Daye Exum Wilkins, named after my greatgrandfathers cousins, Clarence Exum and Walter Daye, was born in Nov 1905, my great aunt Vivian Wilkins (Jones) was born in Buffalo County, Nebraska in 1907, the same year my great grandparents divorced. Story goes W W Wilkins appeared in minstral acts and traveled the Southeast singing and performing, before this he had been a telegraph operator at the Panama Canal. He died around 1946, and my aunt was contacted by an attorney named Tyson Wilkins from West Point, MS. . Some names she mentions are children of Thomas Wilkins, Tyson, Gilmore, Glover, and Thomas Jefferson, (no order). I have found some of the names on the 1917-1918 Census for Noxubee County, MS, but have not found anyone else working on this line. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks, Bobbi Wilkins
