Nancy Jane Wilkins married Joshua Bell December 7, 1854. Performed by Henry Sims, M.S. Book A pg. 362 Noxubee County Marriages. Joshua Bell & his wife Nancy Jane Wilkins had about 7 children before the Civil War. Joshua was injured in the war and his wife went to nurse him, as was the custom in those days. While they were gone all of their children died of illness and/or starvation.
Joshua & Nancy had 6 more children after the Civil War. They moved to Erath Co., TX after the war and both are buried in Johnson Cemetery , Erath Co., TX Nancy's brother Richard Witt Wilkins married Susan Bell sister of Joshua. They also moved to TX.
Nancy was my great grandmother. Her son Richard Wilkins Bell b.12/13/1874, my grandfather.
