Left with words tight in my throat
My breath caught in my breast...
A sweet kiss still warm upon my lips,
My heart broken in my chest.
Saying you didnt mean to hurt
Doesn't make it go away....
I am left my secret lonliness
A place safe for me to stay.
Where no one else can touch me
Way deep down like you did....
I close my ears to the music,
The sound of each word that you said.
Drifting by myself again
Picking up pieces of my heart...
That I find thrown down at my feet
And I'm not sure where to start.
Trying to keep a gentle smile
Upon my weary face....
Wiping quickly away the tears,
So no one will see their trace.
For there is no one to whisper to
Who will ever understand...
How it feels to look down and see
My lonely empty hand.
So blindly I did trust again
Losing myself in the glorious days...
Forgetting for the moment
A price would have to be paid.
And while I'm in this secret lonliness
That no one else can share...
I comfort myself in the knowledge
That you say you do still care.
And when I catch my breath again
Even with my head held high...
I'll be trying not to ever forget
The way my heart did sigh.
You made my world stand oh so still
With fleeting happiness...
