Along this road I journey
From here to there I see
Momumentous changes taking place,
Deep inside of me.
Each purposed step I travel
Offers possibilities
To select and make a difference
In the things my eyes will see.
To the right are purple orchids
Up ahead the blue green grass,
To the left are violet roses,
And behind me shattered glass.
I stop to love the orchid,
It's elegance divine
Leaves soft impressive feelings
On this loving heart of mine.
The blue green grass is flowing
In waves of silky light
A carpet for my journey,
That keeps the pathways bright.
The rose, its velvet softness
Sooths this pathway, oh so long
While softened petals touch my hand
And sing a fragrant song.
But then I peer behind me,
That shattered glass is there!
With broken pieces of my past
Scattered everywhere!
I turn and stop my journey
Step back in time and see
These fragile tiny pieces
All so much a part of me.
One small and shiny sliver
Cut through my life so bold,
It shattered all the pieces
Of my heart, my mind, my soul.
With teary eyes I gather
These fragile parts of me
Up from the past into my mind
Where memories will always be.
I take the time to ponder
Each moment in the glass,
Then place it on the path again
And turn to blue green grass.
Along this road I journey,
From here to there I see
That what has gone will never change
These feelings deep in me.
Each purposed step I travel
Offers possibility
To select and make a difference
In the things my eyes will see.
To the right the blue green waves,
While orchids by me pass,
I dare not turn to look behind
Where lies the shattered glass.
