One winter night, cries pierced the silence at Southern Boll. The head seamstress Ayzil was giving birth again. This time though, she was having twins. A boy named Kiefer, and a girl named Zali. His straight, dark hair and green eyes were in sharp contrast to her light curls and blue eyes. But twins they were, and both were cheerfully welcomed into the already large, sea-faring family.

As the twins aged, it became harder to tell that they were siblings, let alone twins. But every possible minute of Zali’s life was spent with her brother, and often the two were joined by one of their other siblings. One or two older, most younger, that had been born in the years between their birth and when they were 12 turns. Their oldest siblings, all boys, lived with their father away from home at Tillek, the Seacraft hall. Her father, Kiton, was a seacraft master and Zali’s older brothers had all followed in his footsteps, just as Zali planned to do. Only a few of the children remained with their mother, still living at Boll. Those that were at the Hold, only saw their father and the 3 sons apprenticed to the seacraft when they were able to sail down to visit. Kiton, a master, was able to visit much more often than the boys and came once a moth or so. But even with so little time to see him, Zali adored him. Trailing after him when he was there, and peering out windows waiting for his return when he wasn’t. She became determined to become just like him when she was old enough to leave the hold.

When Kiefer and Zali were nearly 11, their mother became pregnant again. Nothing unusual by now, until the birth that is. As cries once again echoed through the halls of Boll, the youngest child of the family was born. A tiny girl. But the birth of their small sister didn’t come without consequences. A sevenday after the girl was born, their mother died. Healers were unable to help, and were unable to answer the family’s questions about her death and it remained unclear if she died from the strain of childbirth, or something else.

Without their mother there to take care of them, and their father at the seahold, the children had to go somewhere else. The younger children were fostered out, and Kiefer and Zali choose to move up to Tillek with their father and brothers, where Zali waited to join the seacraft. But a few months after they arrived, their father and brothers set out for what should have been a short exploration trip. Zali and Kiefer waited for their return for a few months, before it was finally decided that they weren’t coming back.

A few turns later, when the twins were almost 16, Zali joined the dolphincraft after deciding that she was more suited for that then the seacraft. Kiefer joined Harper Hall, moving away from Zali who was still at Master Sea Hold.

After spending a turn or so at the Master Sea Hold dolphinhall, Zali requested a transfer. She didn't have many friends there that she would miss, and she wanted to be closer to her brother, Kiefer, who was now living at Ista Weyr. She was granted the transfer, and traveled down to the hall. A sevenday or so after she had been there, she was out on the beach after a visit with her brother. Then, to Zali's suprise, a bronze dragon came down out rest on the beach, and decided Zali needed to go with him back to the weyr for the clutch they had on the sands. So off she flew, with Bith and D'ven, and was guided to the candidates barracks. Which is where she spent several sevendays. Zali did not find her lifemate on the sands to her dissapointment (although she tried to hide it) though, and returned to Ista Hold soon after. So once agian, Zali was emersed in the daily life of an apprentice, and working toward advancement in the craft.

She didn't have to wait long though, before Zali had another chance to find a lifemate upon the sands. Soon after the apprentice had settled into her routine again, Weyrsecond Adora from High Reaches came with her brown dragon Lisulath and again searched Zali. So the dolphincrafter stood again, this time at HRW. And this time, she Impressed.

Zali, now Zai, indeed left the sands with her very own lifemate, Brown Puizuth, and entered into Weyrlinghood. There she spent her next few weeks learning, until she was at last promoted to a Wingrider. And soon after tapped into the Tsunami Wing, where she remains happy to this day.
