It was published in the PHILIPPINE STAR that HYP broke up because of some "love affair" between Ricci and Barbie. Uh, sure, that's true. As true that Tre Cool of Green Day never died his hair in his life.

Here's the 411 on the break up...

In a joint statement released to the press, Barbie Almalbis and Ricci Gurango have announced the disbanding of the popular band known as the HUNGRY YOUNG POETS. They have released one (self-titled) album and popularized such hits as "Torpe," "Deep," and "Firewoman."

Citing artistic and commercial differences, the two former band members have decided to part ways amicably, and have agreed that neither party would retain the use of the band name after June 30, 1999.

The band's record company, Sony Music, has announced that it will be retaining the services of Mr. Gurango as an artist, while releasing Ms. Almalbis from her contractual obligations to the company. It is expected that both artists will be announcing new plans and introducing their new bands to the public before the end of the year. "
