Aqueduct and Newport, PA Area

Newport.JPG 86k Snowy Newport We stopped here on our way to Cresson, Pa. on Friday Jan. 26, 2001. The Juniata River has ice on it and there is still a little snow lying around. My wife wanted to stay at the Station Inn for her birthday!!! Do you believe that?!
Newport.JPG 80k Newport is West of Enola and the Rockville bridge. This shot is actually a little to the East of Newport. You can just see the corner of one of the old PRR PRR Logon pump houses. I ended up here thanks to a railfan article in the April 1999 Railpace; me and a bunch of guys from New Jersey and Michigan.
Aqueduct.jpg 62K At Aqueduct, Pa. we found a nice grade crossing to shoot some photos. We were joined by a couple of other railfans on this nice Summer Saturday July 8, 2000. A Dash-8 leads this container train.
Aqueduct.jpg 62K More Aqueduct action. This provides a difficult spot for West bounders. We are shooting about noon so the Sun is high. Software helped us out some but the nose is still dark. It does show off the ditch lights.
Aqueduct.jpg 51K More Aqueduct action. Look, a UP unit on this Eastbounder! Always looking for something different. This location is Hill Rd. It can be reached from Rt. 842 out of Duncannon or Aqueduct Rd.
Aqueduct.jpg 52K More Aqueduct action. We have a bunch of power on this Westbound including a CSX unit bringing up the rear.
Aqueduct.jpg 77K Aqueduct6 Yes, the cross buck is crooked. This was a very long train of empty TV stuff. Not a load in the bunch.
Aquaduct.jpg 61K Aqueduct11  It shows most of the small roads and grade crossings. It can also show you what lighting to expect in a given location. This location was ok in the morning but wasn't so hot after 11. Stay off NS property. I understand they are getting very aggressive about trespassing.
