Cresson Page 3 shot 01/19-21/2002 and 03/31/2006
Cresson Page 2
These 15 shots were taken January 26-28, 2001.
If you like snow scenes, you may find pages 2 and 3 interesting.
Believe it or not, this is not all the stuff I shot there. We visit here regularly
so I expect another page eventually. The older stuff is below.

RJ Corman came down into Cresson to pick up a long string of coal hoppers. The string was cut into 2 sections and hauled up to Tall Timbers. On the return trip there was a derailment that tied things up a bit. Shot 03/29/2006.

A Dash-8 standard cab move West through Cresson, Pa. The highlight here
is more the Fall foilage than anything. Shot 10/21/2000.

Cresson An East bound TV train passes
The Station Inn
in Cresson. Notice the MOW equipment in the background.

Cresson I am just to the left about 150 feet from the viewing platform
the town of Cresson built for us railfans. This is the engine facility. When
we were there there were three pairs of SD80MACs in the stable along with a
bunch of other stuff. There is parking, vending machines and a covered
picnic shelter.
|
I am at the picnic shelter now. This is another one of those Fall
foilage shots taken on Sunday morning 10/22/2000. The viewing platform
is a difficult place to shoot video. Anytime anyone walks on the platform it
vibrates, and so does your picture.

Engine facility in Cresson, Pa. is busy even after dark. I've heard
traffic has dropped about 17% since the NS takeover. This is the same
area as above but at night in the snow. Shot 1/2000.

Cresson The porch of Tom Davis' Station Inn makes a great place to
watch trains. If you get a front room or the Western MD room you don't need to
leave your room. You can also sit in the living room and watch trains through
the big picture window. That's a shot of my better side as I shoot some video.
I kinda liked this paint job. My friend Steve Fisher shot the photo. 10/99

East of Cresson This spot is only about a mile east of the Inn where
Rt. 53 passes over the track. Actually it is just outside of Gallitzin.
I am perched on the old road bridge abutment,
along with about 10 other guys. These guys were from York, Pa., New Jersey,
Baltimore and New York.
|
East of Cresson Same spot different train. There are four tracks
here and I have been here when 3 have moving trains on them at the same time.
The fourth track is frequently used for storage. East bounds are a little
difficult because they come under the highway bridge. Quite a seat.
