ENOLA AREA (ROCKVILLE-DUNCANNON)

Duncannon.jpg 67K At Duncannon, Pa. an SD60 heads a Westbounder. This was a nice location to shoot afternoon shots. You are facing a little Southeast here so morning is not so good.
Duncannon.jpg 62K Duncannon, Pa. a CR Dash-8 drags a TV train West on 6/8/00. We are at the old train station, which is now a cable TV place. We have railfanned here for quite sometime; but now they have NO TRESPASSING signs up. The signs are a little hard to see because they are high on a pole, but they are there.
Duncannon.jpg 50K An NS Dash-8 heads a Westbound TV train. One can catch a glimpse of the Susquehanna River in the background. Views are better in early Spring when there are fewer leave. July 8, 2000 was a beautiful day for July in the East, warm, sunny and low humidity. One would think he was in Colorado.
Cove.jpg 82K At Cove, Pa. on March 29, 2006 we caught this lash up with BNSF. Lots of foreign power running now days.
Cove.jpg 82K Again at Cove, Pa. on March 29, 2006 we caught have a west bounder with a BNSF. These will show up at Cresson in a few hours.
Cove.jpg 82K East bound at Cove, Pa. on March 29, 2006 This lash up included an SP that had the number painted out with armor yellow and UP on it.
Cove.jpg 82K At Cove, Pa. is a good spot to watch trains. Shooting video is tough because of all the highway noise. This LMS headed train is moving East.
Cove.jpg 71K Another Eastbounder at Cove. There is plenty of parking here and you can get good photos without trespassing. For some reason, some railfans insist on parking as close to the tracks as possible. That sometimes makes it difficult to get the shot you want.
Cove.jpg 60K A Westbound mixed freight is lead by a CR SD60. The track runs E-W here and your back is South when taking photos. We were informed we had just missed the NS business train when we arrived at Cove. We had moved from Duncannon when we noticed the No Trespassing signs. Had we stayed there 10 minutes more, a photo of the business train would be here too. Too bad for us, timing is everything.
Rockville Brigde.JPG 59k Rockville Bridge during the last weekend of CR. This is another great spot to railfan. A very scenic area with a fair amount of traffic. NS seems to be getting things unclogged so the trains roll a little smoother now.
Rockville Brigde.JPG 34k Rockville Bridge Another nice shot by Steve Fisher on the Harrisburg side of the bridge again.
