Blackwater State Park is located near Davis, WV off Rt. 219. Canaan Valley is also
nearby. We have been to this park numerous times in Summer and Winter. It is beautiful
anytime. There is a lodge, modern cabins and a campground. Hiking and cross country
sking are the big thing. Visit the
official Blackwater Falls web site.

Falls The falls looks pretty cool all frozen up. We had about 10" of snow
on the ground.
|
The trail to the falls is a lot of stairs surrounded by rhododendrons.
We check them out in the Summer.
|
The deer will come right up to the car looking for a handout.
There was a herd of about 8 around the car. The younger ones like this one
were the most
fearless. This one was really cute.

Summer falls is equally spectacular. The Mt. Laurel bloom late June and
the rhododendron bloom early to mid July. We went out the last weekend in June
2002. The Mtn. Laurel was fading and the rhodoes were just getting started. We
saw both.
