An Orphan's Tale

There she stood so all alone, With people everywhere,

She was so lost, couldn't find her way,But no one seemed to care,

The sparkling lights, the busy streets,Crowds were swiftly passing by,

But no one had the time to hear, The frightened child's soft cry,

The people at the children's home, Had treated her unkind,

And now the man she'd been told of,Somehow she must find,

Mommy said He'd care for her, And love her just the same,

So why did folks get rude when she asked, If Jesus was their name?,

She shivered as she moved along, To find something to eat,

Perhaps she'd find a friendly face, Just across the street,

Then all at once the busy crowd, Had time to gather 'round,

To watch this tiny figure, Lying still there on the ground,

She looked into a stranger's face, As He gently helped her stand,

His eyes silently spoke of trust, Unafraid, she held scarred hands,

What was the crowd still staring at, Far below her on the street,

And why did she feel so secure, Beside this Man with sandaled feet?
