We, the members of Our Lady of Sorrows multicultural school community understand our mission to be the same as the Mission of Jesus Christ and the Church.
Thus, in accordance with the Mission of the Church of the Archdiocese of Washington, we, the parents, the clergy, the staff, the faculty and the parishioners of Our Lady of Sorrows strive to:
- bring to each student an awareness of Christ's message and His love, thus freeing him to choose to serve God and his neighbors as Jesus has commanded.
- provide a quality education in a safe and healthy environment that will afford each student the opportunity to grow spiritually, physically, socially, emotionally and intellectually.
- help each student not only to know the Christian faith, but also translate these beliefs into action.
- contribute to the stabilization and the life of the family, the parish, and the community by teaching the Catholic faith to our students.
- integrate Christian values into every aspect of the students' lives.
- alert the students to the demands of social justice and to the needs of the poor, the disadvantaged and the oppressed.
- create and substain a living concerned community built upon the values of the gospel.
- prepare our students to assume their place in society by responding to the needs of each student so that all may:
1. develop a positive self image
2. realize their gifts and the responsibility that flow from these gifts
3. learn and grow according to their potential
- encourage all students and their families to celebrate and share the Good Word at home, at school and in the community.
- provide a professional environment to expose students to the Performing Arts.
- continually evaluate our progress and endeavor in light of our goals and objectives, which we may manifest in word and deed the philosophy that we profess.
