There were various styles of manufacture of chevrons and also different background colors used. I have tried to show examples of the more common variations.
Notes:
- In 1942 the design of the First Sergeant chevron was changed and it became the highest grade since
many veteran NCOs were promoted into the First Sergeant grade in the expanding Army.
