Mood: caffeinated
The Colonel's visit went very well. He enjoyed his day with the rangers out in the field. Because Falls doesn't manage their own recreation areas (we lease them to the state) people in our district office wonder just what exactly we do. He was amazed at all the tasks that keep us busy. Whether it is playing mediator between the different state agencies, dealing with encroachments, monitoring endangered and exotic species or just running the dam. He commented on how we accomplish so much with such a small staff and how wonderful he thought it was that we all got along and seem to work well with one another.
Dinner last night ended up just being the Falls staff, the Colonel and or Lakes Manager. I was kind of upset that the other two offices didn't make an effort to join us but in the end I was glad it was just us. The Colonel got a good taste of how well we all get along. That we tease and joke with one another and he throughly enjoyed it and even participated a few times.
Now that the visit is over I feel physically drained. I sit here and I can barely keep my eyes open. I didn't stay up late last night. I actually went to bed about 9:30. I think I have just released all the stress of getting ready for the visit and my body is worn out.
The exotic animal show is this weekend. A friend of mine was suppose to drive up from Wilmington to go with me but because of the threat of Ernesto looming, he has back out. I still plan on going but will have to see if the weather will cooperate. We are suppose to get 7 inches of rain and if that happens a lot of the main streets will flood. The thought of being cooped up in my apt all weekend is horrific. I still have yet to reschedule my massage. I really need to do that soon. The muscles in my back and shoulder and really starting to hurt.
