Park Rangers...we are an observant bunch of people
Mood:  mischievious
I am not an observant person. I mean I notice the big stuff...like if I came into work one day and the dam was gone...I am pretty sure I would notice that. The little things however, are more of a challenge for me. Minor haircuts, new uniform, new boots, etc. So do I have a right to be offended?

Friday night I sat in my apartment with Tanya and her cousin Robin who was visiting from TN. We had polished off two bottles of wine when I box of hair dye emerged from Tanya's purse. On Halloween I put red streaks in my hair and for some reason people loved it. Tanya and Robin were determined to dye my hair and I was to drunk to refuse. My hair is now RED!!! Sort of like Gene Gray's hair in the X-men movie but maybe just a tad darker. Don't worry you all it is only temporary. It is one of those brands that washes out in a month. With my commitment phobia I couldn't do a permanent color for fear I would be stuck with it. But anyway...I digress.

I went into the pub Saturday night and everyone noticed I had colored my hair. How could you not...it is RED. Most of these people have only met me once so I was surprised that they noticed. And the majority of the ones who noticed were men. Also a big shocker to me.

I get into work this morning and no one says a word to me about my hair. My boss comes in however and they all comment on the fact that he has gotten 1/16th on an inch cut off his hair and how nice it looks. Still No one notices that I dyed my hair red. Come on people...it is bright freakin' red!!! Pretty hard to miss. My boss keeps looking at me like he knows I have done something different but I think is too embarrassed to ask what because he knows he should be more observant. LOL I guess that is what I get for working in an office with mostly men.

I have worked with these guys for almost 3 years now and they didn't notice the red hair. I work at the pub for two nights and they all notice. So what does that say? Have the people that I work with become complacent? Does the pub crowd care about me more? It is a quandary.

I am off to WV tomorrow and I don't know if I will have a chance to post while I am there. So if not...

Have a great Thanksgiving and if you are traveling...stay safe.

I wouldn't be too offended. LOL they are male rangers after all and you said yourself that you are not observant. But I do think the red hair would be hard to miss. Dr. Mark is intrigued by the red hair and thinks that it would suit you. LOL I think you could dye you hair bright purple and he would still think you looked great. LOL

*rolls eyes* you need to find Dr. Mark another love interest other than me. LOL What an odd man!!!!

The other rangers see you as a work colleague - you're all there to do work and your hair colour (or the change of it) doesn't affect either that fact or your collective ability to function in the work environment - and they don't pick up on it.

The guys at the bar are there to meet people; the psychological processes are different. Noticing and complimenting your hair colour change scores brownie points, and ultimately that's what performance in a sociable environment is all about :)

While the psycological underpinnings suggested by Spongie are accurate, I'd have to say its just Tom and Steve. They are just not the sort of people who pick up on things about others. Its not even a male thing, its just their personalities. I'm surprised about Dana, though. I would think she'd have said something.

Dana did say something when I finally saw her. She stayed in her cubicle most of the morning. We both laughed at the fact that the other 3 didn't notice.
