You want me to spend how much on what?!?
Mood:  don't ask
I have single handedly pissed off about 20 people today with just one word...."NO!"

One of my co-workers this morning came to me and handed me a request to spend $1900.00 on one of those festival tents. Looking over the request I remembered that we had actually purchased a tent similar to this one about 2 years ago. The employee agreed but said that the one we have doesn't have the District LOGO on it. My response was that we should look into getting the logo put on our existed tent instead of spending money to buy a brand new tent. I was then informed that the company making these tents was giving us a discount on the basis that all 5 projects were buying tents. If we don't buy a tent the other projects will have to pay full price. My response...."Oh well...sucks for them!" I also told the employee that we are still without a budget and we are only to be making necessary purchases to maintain normal duties. A festival tent doesn't meet those needs. The employee then looked at me and said they weren't going to be the one to break the bad news. So I then had to send out an email explaining that we were not going to participate in the tent purchase as of yet. That we would look into getting our tent modified and if the company couldn't do it then we would order one of the new tents. I also would need a memo from the District office stating that it was okay to purchase these items under the continuing budget resolution. Within a matter of seconds after hitting the send button I was inundated with nasty emails that basically said I wasn't being a team player. I am sorry but I would rather use my money on something worth while that we would actually get some use out of. The tent we currently have has never even been taken out of the bag. Am I wrong here? Maybe I am just too practical for my own good.

On a different subject. Last night, as I waited for HEROES to come on, I caught a run through of Grammy fashions. Most of the attire was great. It seemed like people got it right this year except for one...Imogen Heap. I love Imogen's music but someone needs to talk to her about her fashion sense. Incase you missed the red carpet this is what Ms. Heap decided to wear. What was she thinking?

On the Valentine's Day front. My boss at the pub gave Lennie and me a gift certificate for dinner at the pub tomorrow night. I normally avoid VDay like the plague but this year I am actually looking forward to it.

You are always too practical. I think you just need to let loose one day.

1) Yes, you are practical, but I think you were right on in this issue!! way to stand your ground. And I could never do your job (that part of it anyway).

2) My first initial glance at the photo, I thought it was a pic of you! Oops!

3) Hope you and Lennie have an awesome Valentine's Day!!!! I guess I'll be doing the Billie Holiday/ice cream cake tradition on my own this year.

1) I think since I have started looking at buying a house I have gotten more conservative in my spending habits. That includes money that isn't mine. LOL

1) Gee Thanks! I was planning on wearing something similar for Vday. Do you think it would turn Lennie on?

3) You need to have the Asti with the cake as well as a copy of An Affair to Remember or it wont be an authentic "I'm a loser" Vday. Maybe I should write an entry about how to do a "loser" night right. Because lord knows I have had plenty of them.

I don't know what you would call it. The only word that comes to mind is "scary".

You are a very practical person but that is one of the many things I love about you. You don't find too many women like that.

I hope this Valentine's Day will break the curse. I know you adore Lennie and I hope that the evening is filled with fun and romance. If anyone deserves it...it is you.

As for Ms. Heap. I have never heard of this woman. She looks like she threw on her Halloween Costume. Looks like she is trying to go as Ms. Swampthing.

What a bunch of whinny beotches!! Do they not know the meaning of "Spend only what you need to survive!"?? I think you should have kinkos print up a big sticker of the logo and present it to this person with your compliments. Since when do you guys need a $2000 tent? a 10x10 (typical festival booth size) only cost us $200-300...

And, dude, I think I made this dress the other day... only it was not SUPPOSED to look like that. And it didn't have the plastic lillypad apliques. Nice touch.

Its Bayou Mary Poppins!

The tent they want to order is 10X15 and has 3 side panels silk screened with our LOGO. We are also ordering table skirts in two different sizes and some weights. Plus a bag to put it all in. Some how that comes to $1900

I think I might wear something similar for Halloween next year.
