It has been a bad start to the week and only promises to get worse. My phone has been ringing off the hook since I got in this morning. It started with the fact that no one had done the morning report. Well that’s because we don’t have a schedule so no one knows when the hell they are suppose to work. The reason we don’t have a schedule is because the ranger who creates the schedule was waiting to see who was hired for the new job. We still don’t know who got the job (although I am assuming it is me) so I informed my boss and the ranger to put out a schedule with a 4 person rotation to exclude me for now. Even if I get the job I can’t start that job until they get someone to replace me in the one I am currently doing.
The second incident this morning involved a change in a regulation that apparently no one bothered to tell those of us in the field. So I spent most of the morning yelling a people on the phone. I don’t like to be nasty with people but if you want me to play the game you have to let me know the rules. It just makes me look bad when I am not informed of changes in the regs and looking bad in front of my peers is not something I will except. Especially if it was not my fault.
I have about a million and 1 things to do this week one of which is to get our Environmental Stewardship Budget for 2010 entered into the system. Yeah I know it is only 2008 but we work way into the future. None of the numbers I enter will be even remotely close to what we end up getting but it is still a requirement that we enter something. I also need to pay bills, reconcile my credit card and enter training plans for all employees for 2009. With everything that I have been scolded for not signing up to help with Waterfest. I CAN’T DO EVERYTHING!!!!!
I wish I could have more days like Friday. I attended a Bird ID workshop in the morning which was awesome except for the fact that I came back covered in ticks. They were deer ticks too so I am watching the sites on my skin to make sure I don’t get Lyme Disease. Then after the workshop Dana met up with me and we drove to a little farm outside. Silver City to pick up some snake replicas that we had made. While we waited for them to load up the snakes we got to play with horses, goats, and puppies. I hated to come back to the office.
I can’t wait to go to Scotland. I need a vacation.
I think I am putting my phone on Do Not Disturb for the rest of the day.
