What I believe
Once again as the weather warms and the beauty of Spring is in the air, I can sit on my front porch and have what I call my quiet time with Our Lord. Something that I really love to do. My daughter always ask me what am I doing when she drives up and sees me. I guess I should tell her enjoying God's World.. Today, I saw a small yellow finch within 6 ft of me searching for twigs for a nest. Yes to me that is a creation of God's World..
Sometimes, as I sit here many thoughts and words begin to flow. This Sunday morning my thoughts are of what I believe and what is the Christian way.
I can not recite every book of the Bible nor can I recite many scriptures, but I sure know where to find the ones I need. But, what is more important, to be able to quote them or to live by them? I have many favorites that I try to live by. I tend to live by the Ten Commandments and this thought ever present in mind,"What would Jesus do". Many times this thought has kept me from doing or saying the wrong thing. Even though I cannot quote many scriptures I do believe it is important to know them.
I believe that God does bless us richly in many ways. Many are blessed with fortune. But, I believe if we are so blessed, that we are not to flaunt it, boast of it , nor look down on the less fortunate. I believe in the blink of a eye, God got can take you from "Riches to Rags" stripping away the riches he has given.
1 Tim: 6:13 Charge them that are rich in this world, that they are not high minded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the Living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy.
I believe, God forgives us our sins, but I also believe, that he does not mean for us to consciously repeat them. I believe we are to ask forgiveness and make a effort not to repeat them. I many times have to struggle with this and it takes strength to do so. One of my favorites that I can quote... Phil.4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strenghteneth me.
I believe in being Humble,When you do for others and do not boast, nor expect anything back, but the pleasure of having helped someone and the joy it reaps.
"Take heed that you do not do your charitable deeds before men, to be seen by them. Otherwise you have no reward... in heaven" Matthew 6:1 NKJ
I believe in not being Self Righteous , but sometimes I catch my self doing just that.
Being judgemental or frowning upon others.
I believe we must set a good example, if we are to lead others to the God's Path. We must not leave our faith,values and beliefs in the Church on Sunday mornings. We must be enthusiastic and diligent every day so others can see that the Christ truly lives in us.
These are some of my beliefs. They are what I try to live by each day. I hope you can see a reflection of them in me.
