Tips for Modifying Your Subaru

During the course of modifying my 2.5GT and working on my turbo legacy, while still a novice at the whole aftermarket modification thing, I feel I have gained much insight into the inner workings of my cars, and in Subarus in general (they all do have pretty much every component in common). When I bought my GT back in April of 1999, I knew I wanted to modify the car, but seeing as I had no experience in the mysterious realm of engine building, I wished there was a source of information for everything I needed to get started.

To clarify, I take no responsibility for anything written on this page. The information listed below is what I've come to realize during the course of my own modifcations on two Subarus. IT DOES NOT MEAN IT'S NECESSARILY CORRECT. Therefore, it is on you should you attempt to use webpage as a sole guide in your modification endeavors. That being said, I've done research on various informational websites and messageboards to obtain this information (you can find links to these sites on my links page) as well as done some trial and error testing on my own.

So here goes . . .

I will break this tutorial up into different areas of the car, making distinctions for both normally aspirated and turbocharged variants of the Subaru lineage:

1. intake
2. exhaust
3. engine
4. turbo
5. intercooler
6. suspension
7. drivetrain
8. wheels, tires, and brakes
9. body, chassis, and interior
10. electronics
