TRYFFYD
These are On30 shots from my mate Jack Coomer in Queensland, Australia. He says he
is probably the lone On30'er in the area. Most folks are US prototype in HO. Jack
kitbashes most of his locos and scratch builds a lot of stuff. He does a bonzer
job of it too, fair dinkum!!

Photo 2
Jack's Joinery won him a trophy in a model contest. It was on a diarama at the time.
He tells me he has been into trains since 1929!

Photo 3
A nice night shot here. Those folks won't be there much longer. A passenger train is due in
any moment.

Eprapah Creek
Jack's original Eprapah Creek was On2 1/2. The layout was featured
in the Australian Model Railway Magazine in 1991. That has just been
terminated to build 4, 2ft x 6ft modules for school tours.
Jack keeps very busy between building railways and educating
us Yanks on the lingo of Down-Under.

Photo 5
Jack didn't tell me about this loco. But I like it. If I had to guess, I'd say it
started out as a Kato RS3. It looks great in On30. Lots of activity here and a nice
backdrop too. Victoria Point is where Jack calls home. And a bonzer home it is too.
He sent me photos. Its beautiful! Right near the ocean.

Number 2
was a Tyco 2-8-2 extended to On30. It is tender driven by what was a Bachmann
44 tonner. Jack shot all the photos and did the digital enhancements.
|
Number 3
Was a Kato 4 axle RS-3. Jack built up the body to make this loco. Shrubs are made
from plastic car wash material. He kitbashes his wagons from previous loved stuff.
|
Porter
This little guy is the popular Bachmann Porter with 3 Bachmann mining wagons.
The coal is nobbly polystyrene painted black.
Jack has painted the Porter up nicely.
|
Module
This is part of a module Jack is building. He is planning on touring the schools
with it. The billboards are from magazines. Lots of detail here.
|
Green Mike
Started life as a Mantua model that Jack bashed into an On30 steamer. He upgraded the
motor with a sagima can. If you'll notice, there are stars in the background.
They are done with grain-of-wheat bulbs.
|
Number 8
Was or is a Roundhouse Prairie Jack bashed. It has a can as well. He feels bashing
locos is his strong point. I'd say it is just one of them. He does a great job
of building two-colour LED signals from scratch too. He is doing his own web site.
Perhaps he'll share those signals with you there. I won't show you the best train
stopper. Designed with a couple of shielas doing the job. I'll link to Jack's
site when its ready. Thanks for the photos Jack and keep up the good work. Oh, Jack just told me his old site is still around as of 5/1/03. Here's the link Jack's site.
