About the Hereford Optimist Club
The Hereford Optimist Club was chartered on April 24, 2001 with 41
charter members. We have since added 9 members for a total of 50 members. We
are continually looking to grow both in the projects and support that we provide
the community and in membership.
An optimist club is a voluntary organization of civic-minded men and women
banded together in the modern tradition for progressive thought and community
service. A member fulfills his/her role by attendance at meetings, participation
in service projects; serving on club committees or boards, and by inviting
others to join in the club's pursuit of it's purposes. The purpose of optimist clubs are to aid and encourage the development of
youth in the belief that the giving of one's self in service to others will
advance the well-being of humankind, community life and the world. In
addition, club members strive to develop optimism as a philosophy of life, to
promote an active interest in good government and civic affairs, to inspire
respect for law, and to promote patriotism among all. Our general club meetings are held on the 3rd Tuesday of the month at 6:30pm at
Friendly Farms Restaurant in Upperco, MD. The Board of Directors meets at 7:00pm on the
1st Tuesday of each month at the home of the President and
Secretary/Treasurer. Go to
