The Lanhams of Maryland and the District of Columbia Compiled by Dr. Howard G. Lanham

Lanhams in the 1790 Maryland Census

controversy

A sample of several Lanhams in the 1790 census of
Prince George's County, Maryland including the Elizabeth Lanham entry mentioned below.

The following is a transcription of Lanham entries in the 1790 census. It is odd that an adult male but no white females are counted in the household of Elizabeth Lanham. The area of the future District of Columbia was counted as part of Prince George's and Montgomery County in 1790 and first appears separately in 1800. There may be some missing individuals but the list is fairly complete when compared to other sources. I am including James Langham in case he might be a Lanham.
