The Lanhams of Maryland and the District of Columbia
Compiled by Dr. Howard G. Lanham
The following site contains lists of primary source mentions of persons named Lanham living in the State of Maryland or the District of Columbia (once part of Maryland). It is not a genealogy as such since there are many mentions that might belong to one of several people with the same name
and since many of the mentions give no clue to the relationship between the individual and other Lanhams.

- This a spelling variation of Dorothy Lanham, who is believed to have married Francis Piles.
- Martin Luther Noerr (1832-1893), son of Andrew Noerr and Catherine Beard, married Frances Lephe Shedd (1836-1892) in 1862. Frances Lephe Shedd was the daughter of William Pool Shedd and Catherine Maria Simms with whom Delilah Simms Lanham was living in 1850. Delilah Simms Lanham died on March 29, 1884 and was buried in Congressional Cemetery, Washington, D.C. It appears that Catherine Maria Simms Shedd and Delilah Simms Lanham were sisters. Delilah Simms took a license to marry Jonathan Lanham August 3, 1848 in the District of Columbia.
