Original 1789 Bill of Sale of William Lannum (Lanham) to Notley and Lewis Lannum

At the request of Notley Lannum and Lewis Lannum the following Bill of Sale Was recorded this 27th day of May 1789 To Wit State of Maryland Montgomery County know all men by These person to whom it may concern that I William Lannum of Montgomery County, planter found in consideration of Twenty Three Hundred Pounds of Crop Tobacco To me paid by Notley Lannum and Lewis Lannum of said county The receipt thereof I do hereby acknowledge have Bargained sold and delivered and by These presents do bargain, sell and deliver unto the said Notley Lannum and Lewis Lannum the following articles: Viz one Gray horse nine years old Branded on The Near shoulder one bay mare nine years old nither docked Nor Branded one dark bay mare and Colt age eight years old Branded as above one Spotted cow, one heifer three years old and Two small heifers one Two years old and the other one all marked With crops on The right Ear and overbit in the left ear Five ewes and lambs Two sows and Eleven shots all marked as above Two feather Beds and all household furniture to have and to hold the said granted stock and furniture unto them the said Notley Lannum and Lewis Lannum their Executors Administrators and assignees and said William Lannum doth covenant and agree with the said Notley Lannum and Lewis Lannum their Executors Administrators and assignees To Warrant and Ever defend the above mentioned stock and household furniture to the right and property of Them the said Notley Lannum and Lewis Lannum Their Heirs and assigns forever in Witness Thereto I have hereunto set my name and seal the 19th day of May one thousand seven hundred and eight Nine

Interpretation

The above document establishes that individuals named William, Notley and Lewis Lannum (Lanham) all were residents of Montgomery County in 1789 but does not establish the exact nature of their relationship. There were several individuals with the names William, Notley or Lewis Lanham also confusing the interpretation.
