When I take a vow of friendship
Placing someone in my heart
To me they reside there forever
Weather near or far apart.
Miles or time may separate us
And keep us from a physical touch,
But inside me nothing changes
I still love them just as much.
I remember them in prayer
Asking God to guide and protect
That they may know joy and comfort
Never suffer from fear or neglect.
I trust that He will keep them
Within His loving care,
To guide and to protect them
Since I cannot be there.
And if in His infinite wisdom
He decides to take them home
Leaving me behind on earth,
I know I am not alone.
Nothing changes in my heart,
Though a chapter's at an end
I will one day be reunited,
With my Forever Friends.
