Lady Liberty Wept

Title of Your Page

Jacqueline’s Junque

I sometimes wonder how she felt
As she watched in horror that day;
Seeing all that fear and terror,
What did she wish to say?

She couldn't turn her face away
Or close her eyes in pain;
She stood tall, enduring all
Smelling smoke and seeing flame.

Watching on in frozen silence
On a day her people died,
Still holding up her glowing torch
Illuminating America's pride.

A momument of hope and promise
Looking towards her golden shore
Tall and stately in her harbor
Guarding her homeland's door

The promises of peace and freedom,
She stood alone and kept
With dignity and honor
Our Lady Liberty Wept.

Give me your tired, your poor.
Your huddled masses yearning to be free.
The wretched refuse of your teaming shores.
Give these, the homeless tempest tossed to me.
I lift my lamp beside the golden door.
