He... who had been so strong,
such a powerful force in her life,
was now mild and tamed.
She... who had been so tender,
such a gentle flower in his life,
was now steadfast and brave.
He had been her anchor,
She had been his haven.
They had faced hunger, hurt, anger,
fear and heartbreak.
They had lost much, and gained more.
They had danced with eachother
for so long, they no longer needed music.
They didnt even need words now,
for each spoke the other's silent language.
They smiled together and cried together.
The lines in their faces told it all.
Each moment now was cherished,
and their memories had sweetened.
Long forgotten were angry words,
which caused them pain.
There was only a tenderness now.
As they touched eachother,
the way they had touched
a million times before,
you could almost see...
the magic of forever!
(This summer my parents celebrated
their 50th wedding anniversary.
