A New Year just beginning,
Brings us all to pause
We look over the past one
To what was gain or loss.
The year two thousand one
Is now marked in memory
As one our world will remember
Throughout all history.
For on the eleventh of September
Within that certain year
A tremble rippled through the earth
Full of horror, shock and fear.
In a wave of mass destruction
That hate alone designed,
Caught in just a moment
Great sorrow for mankind.
For as we watched in disbelief
And darkness filled the air
We shivered with a terror,
As our hearts filled with despair.
The innocent were slaughtered
A nation left to grieve,
Heads bowed across the universe
Taking time now to believe.
And rising from the ashes,
Voices cried out from the land
As people joined together,
Singing out "United We Stand."
With brave determination
Their spirits rose as One
They pulled theirselves together
For the job had just begun.
In the wake of all their sorrow
With eyes still full of tears
They unfurled their banners
And put aside their fears.
They lifted up their voices
And the world could hear them sing,
"God Bless America"

This New Year is now upon us
With a chance to begin again,
Let's remember now with honor
Our fallen heros and friends
With renewed hearts and spirits
Full of purpose, not regret
We bow our heads, and shed a tear
For we must never forget!
