The words he spoke in honesty,
had cut into her heart.
She turned her face to hide the tears
that were about to start....
Now at last she understood,
how truth could cause great pain.
Realizing at last that she
would not see him again...
"I'll ask you for nothing more,
as you say good-bye.
Just leave me with a gentle kiss,
and one last tender lie."
"Tell me that you'll love me...
until the end of time.
That more than anything you wish,
you really could be mine."
"What would it cost to tell me,
that you'll never need another?
That no one else can take my place,
or be your cherished lover?"
He turned and kissed her softly,
as he fought the urge to cry,
"If I said those words to you...
they would not be a lie."
